Lock It Up (Or Not)

 Welcome back you wonderful people!

Today is going to be all about chastity devices.. So what does chastity mean?

Basically, it means to refrain from sexual activities…that’s it in a nutshell!

A chastity device is a lockable piece of equipment made to be worn around the genitals, the wearer is unable to have intercourse, masturbate (in most cases) and have an erection.

Historical research suggests they may have been used as early as the 1400s!

Traditionally, the most common design was a belt with a shield like piece of metal at the front

leading through the legs and up to the waist - although there was another type worn inside the

vagina that was specifically designed to injure a penis!

Often made from pieces of cloth and heavy metals, chastity belts were not made to wear for

long periods of time as the metal had direct contact with the skin and could cause sores,

infection, sepsis.. And even death!

Thankfully, we’ve moved on a long way since then.

Up until the 1930s masturbating was seen as harmful and said to cause mental health

problems…this was in the western world! (Wow.. Just wow) Anyone who reads these blogs knows that masturbation is actively promoted here as it relieves stress and anxiety.. and feels great!

Anyway, I digress..

Chastity belts have become an erotic fetish within the BDSM community - with one person being

a dominant key holder in charge of locking the device and therefore controlling sexual activity of

the submissive who wears the device.

There are many chastity devices on the market - for all genders! For vaginas, there are belts that hold dildos and/or butt plugs in place, controlled by the key holder, but an orgasm may still be achieved by ‘tribbing’ (pressing on the vulva). Some are padded for comfort to prevent pinching skin when sitting down and there are even some full body restraints!

For the penis, there are cock cages/penis cages, designed to hold the testicles in place with a

ring and then a small cage is positioned over the flaccid penis, facing downwards and locked. These can be made from leather, faux leather, plastic, silicone, stainless steel, nylon and titanium, there are also businesses that custom make a variety of designs for all genders.

It is so important when treading on new sexual territory that knowledge is power and leads us to

a more fulfilled, safer experience. Some things to keep in mind are:

  • No two genitals are identical, check out your penis, rectum and vagina, know your partner(s) body

  • Do your research

  • Communicate

  • Consent

  • Respect boundaries

  • Be safe

  • Provide emotional support

I would also encourage making a safety plan to ensure that in the event of emergencies all involved know the procedures.

For any genuine concerns, please speak to a professional.

All of the above is aimed for EVERYONE involved to ensure this is a pleasurable exciting and

sexy experience, there is so much information out there about the types of play used with these products (hmm.. an idea for further blogs?) but today we’ll just focus on the basics.

Be safe, be sassy, Pleasure Seekers.
