Lets talk: Period Sex

Welcome back to our sex positive blog!

Lets talk taboo. Today it’s all about period sex, some women love it (at least 1 in 4) and men.. well,

approximately 47% really aren’t bothered whether or not if we are menstruating. It’s not for everyone and that’s fine too, but a lot of people are - so it’s definitely worth talking

About!

It may be surprising that there are quite a few benefits to period sex - It can help with relaxation, promote sleep, relieve headaches, cramps and low mood as when we orgasm, we release our amazing endorphins (our ‘feel good’ hormones)

When we are having our periods, our genitals swell with menstrual blood and this causes us to

have more sensitivity in this area. Menstruating blood is an excellent lube AND free.

Remember, to prevent unwanted pregnancy and STIs please use a condom, a common myth is the belief that pregnancy cannot happen whilst menstruating.

Most (not all) of us feel a higher sex drive about 2 weeks before menstruating, some

research in Europe has found that we find all men more appealing when we ovulate.

Often we may have shorter periods when having intercourse as when we orgasm our uterus

contracts and pushes out more of the tissue waste.

Period sex may sound scary, but it can help promote intimacy, increase sensitivity and be a free pain relief.

Whew, all sounds fabulous!

But first, please communicate with partners. Be honest that this is going to be messy (but

enjoyable) so reassurance is needed, discuss your likes and dislikes, use a towel and wet wipes to avoid any potential embarrassment.

Please make sure you have removed tampons before starting. This is very important for safety reasons as no one wants to call a doctor to say it’s stuck.

Finally,  have fun, laugh and of course - you can always just grab the condoms and jump in the shower together for some sexy time

Til next time, Pleasure Seekers. ♥️
